Sales Manager at Destination Gettysburg (posted 09/10/19)
Title: Sales Manager Reports to: Vice President Status: Non-Exempt
Objective Executes the assigned duties of the annual marketing plan to meet the sales objectives for increasing the economic impact from tourism related activities for Adams County through efforts of the organization. Carries out sales mission programs and other events and duties to maximize Gettysburg/Adams County group, meeting and International tourism by increasing number of visitors and extending the average stay of visitors and increasing dollar expenditure per visitor.
Working in close cooperation with the Vice President to identify demographic markets to target for concentrated group and International sales efforts, executes the plan to measure sales effort impact, and carries out plans to achieve sales target results.
Attends meetings, conventions, trade shows, sales missions and related events to represent Gettysburg/Adams County as a destination. Serves as main contact for all group, meeting and International sales inquiries. Follows up on contacts and develops relationships with operators, brokers, wholesalers and potential repeat tour organizers. Tracks outcomes and coordinates with professional personnel to improve outcomes.
Evaluates effectiveness of such events and keeps records of effectiveness. Assists in the planning of future efforts in this area, including recommending and implementing changes in focus of presentations, improving booth design, coordinating with VP to develop advertising vehicles to improve booth attendance, recommending shows and meetings to be added or deleted. Works with partners to develop tracking method to evaluate marketing effectiveness.
In conjunction with partners and staff, providing familiarization tours, making sales calls, and creating events to bring planners and partners together to maximize selection of Gettysburg/Adams County as a destination and to increase the dollar expenditure per visitor.
Works with the VP on the development and implementation of the annual Sales Plan and Budget.
Communicates with all other staff to keep them abreast of sales missions, events, programs, and Company involved activities. Assists in researching effectiveness of sales efforts.

Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience, plus 2 years of sales or related experience.
Willingness to travel as needed, including overnights, weekends, evenings and holidays.
Excellent public image, verbal and written communication skills, evidence of ability to forge and maintain positive working relations.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
Proficient in utilizing the internet for research/sales development
Evidence of ability to be self-directed, to identify problems and create multiple solutions, and to measure the effectiveness of work efforts.
Ability to lift boxes weighting 40 pounds and stand for long periods of time as needed.
