Sales and Catering Manager - Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, State College

The Ramada Hotel and Conference Center in State College, PA is looking for a dynamic sales person to join our team. We are looking for an experienced hotel sales person to handle group and catered events across each of our properties. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, organized, motivated, goal oriented and able to work a flexible schedule. This will include a variety of weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Hotel Sales experience is ideal. This position includes a benefits package including medical, dental, vision and employee meals are provided. Job duties and responsibilities:
  • Implement catering and guest room sales plans to achieve monthly goals.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets as it pertains to direct prospecting efforts and customer appointments on assigned accounts and to develop new accounts.
  • Direct solicitation calls on assigned accounts and potential new accounts.
  • Develop promotional events to market catering and room night sales to individuals and organizations.
  • Develop positive working relationship with existing customers for repeat business.
  • Ensure quality services and operations by building trustful and positive relationships with clients and co-workers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete sales operational and transaction records and required reports.
  • Answer customer inquiries in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prioritize sales tasks based on revenue goals and deadlines.
  • Develop strong customer relationships to widen customer base and marketing opportunities.
  • Maintain a database of prospective and current customers.
  • Interact with customers to get feedback on products and services offered.
  • Serve as the on-site contact for groups once in house, including scheduling pre- conference meetings, reviewing details and coordinating with banquet and front desk departments.
  • Close continued cooperation with other hotel departments in arranging accommodations, services, and special events for booked business.
  • Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Attend local and community events to strengthen hotel's position in the market.
  • Be willing to travel outside of State College for sales calls and trade shows.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.
  • Ability to maintain flexible hours, including weeknights and weekends.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Well organized and responsible with an aptitude in problem-solving with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A team player with a high level of dedication.
  • Knowledgeable and aware of events happening in the community to help facilitate new and repeat business.
  • BS/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; certification in sales and marketing will be an asset.
