This award recognizes restaurants for outstanding service and philanthropy. Congratulations to our 2019 Pennsylvania state winners:
Angelo's Restaurant has been a community staple in Washington, Pa. since 1939. Because of their commitment to giving back to community members in need through spaghetti dinner fundraisers among other charitable efforts, they were selected as a recipient of the 2019 PA Restaurant Neighbor Award.
On any given day you may find Beechie's Place's co-owner/ executive chef Lane McFarland with either a chef's knife in hand or a microphone—at the local high school where he volunteers as a vocal coach for the school's music program. Arts education programs around the country are being slashed to balance budgets. Study after study confirm that the arts are essential for students and school culture. Not only does this program affirm the value of arts education in our K-12 schools, but it also ensures students in the Chartiers-Houston School District can continue to have access to it (and all of its benefits). Through Lane's work, the school can continue offering the music program's annual productions, despite a diminishing arts budget.
Giving back to the community is a fundamental operating principle of the family-owned and operated Priory Hospitality Group. PHG also recognizes that there's a world outside our borders with people who desperately need help. Over the last 5 years, PHG has helped raised over $260,000 in support of Work, an organization accompanying families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs.
