The PA ProStart Invitational will take place virtually in April 2021. Registration and more information below.
Pennsylvania ProStart Student Invitational
ProStart® is a nationwide program for high school students that develops their talent into tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice industry leaders. PRLA and our Educational Foundation annually host a competition for Pennsylvania ProStart students to showcase their culinary talents and creativity.
How does the virtual competition work?
The Pennsylvania ProStart Student Invitational (PAPSI) is composed of two distinct competitions—management and culinary—that showcase the most important skills needed on either side of the restaurant and foodservice industry. The competitions will look a little different this year, as we prioritize the health and safety of participants and volunteers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each team in the management competition develops a proposal for the next promising restaurant concept and pitches their idea to a panel of industry judges during a 10-minute Zoom presentation. Next, judges evaluate teams' critical thinking skills and ability to react to management challenges with a Q&A session.

Culinary teams prepare a menu and written proposal for a three-course meal. Teams will submit a video recording of the meal being prepared in their school kitchens, and take photos of the finished products to be evaluated by the judges remotely. Teams will also complete a self-evaluation.
