POSITION TITLE: Director of Communications
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time/Exempt
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Communications is an integral member of the senior management team and will be responsible for the development of the organization’s communication strategy. The Director must be passionate about the mission of elevating the profile of Centre County as a Tourism Destination of Choice.
This position will manage Media Relations, develop a Corporate Communications plan, and manage Social Media and Editorial Content. The Director will ensure the delivery of effective and timely media coverage (b-to-c and b-to-b), expand our engagement with media, consumers and stakeholders, create timely content about every dimension of the Centre County visitor experience and develop a viable online pressroom. The Director will also work with Penn State University’s Communications Program and other appropriate channels to capitalize on the potential of interns and part-time works to supplement the department’s efforts. The Director will also play the lead role in editing/proof reading the majority of communications emanating from the organization.
Overview The Central Pennsylvania Convention & Visitors Bureau (CPCVB) is a 501-C6 nonprofit, membership-based organization committed to the fundamental principal that conventions and visitors can be more effectively attracted to our area through "coordinated group action" rather than independent action. The bureau's mission is to develop, promote, and engage in travel related activities and coordinate visitor services designed to enhance the economic activity and quality of life within the county and thereby contribute to the commonwealth.
